The Heritage Christian Academy girls’ basketball team advanced to the KCAA Holiday Classic championship with a pair of wins on Saturday, before falling 46-26 to Oak Ridge in the title game.

The Lady Warriors cruised by AIE 41-28 in the opener, led by 18 points and six steals by Hallie Zieg.  Liana Hite and Bailey Craft each added seven points, and Rachel Robson chipped in six.

HCA had to come from behind in the second game, trailing Lakeside 14-4 at the half and by 13 points midway through the third quarter.  The Lady Warriors used the press to turn the game around, rallying for a 22-21 victory.

Kate St. Martin led the way with ten points, Craft scored seven and hauled down 16 rebounds, and Zieg finished with six points and nine boards.

The Lady Warriors also fell behind early in the title matchup with Oak Ridge, but this time a comeback wasn’t in the cards.

Oak Ridge got six first-quarter points from Jersey Alford and led 14-5 after one.  St. Martin scored five of her nine points in the second quarter, but HCA trailed 23-12 at the halftime break.

Zieg got going with eight points in the third quarter, including a pair of three-pointers, but the Lady Warriors couldn’t cut into the margin.  Alford capped her game-high 15-point night with five in the fourth to help Oak Ridge finish off the win.

Zieg averaged over 11 points per game to join Craft on the All-Tourney team for HCA.
