The Fort Campbell boys’ basketball team perked up in the second half of Friday’s matchup with hosts Clarksville Christian, but it was too little too late in a 57-48 loss to the Centurions.
Maurice Moore scored five early points for the Falcons, but they only managed single figures in each of the first two quarters. On the other side, Brody Cardwell posted ten first-half points to help the Centurions double up Fort Campbell 30-15 at the break.
Falcons’ leading scorer Aidan Blaszkowski got going in the second half with five points in the third. Moore added four, but they still trailed by 13 with a quarter to play.
Blaszkowski and Daniel Castro each knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the fourth to try to jumpstart a Falcon rally, but the Centurions got eight points down the stretch from Seth Koenes to hold on for the win.
Fort Campbell won the rebounding battle 38-31, but there were plenty to grab after the Falcons finished 17 of 69 from the field. Blaszkowski finished with 20 points and ten rebounds, and Moore also reached double figures with 15.
