It seems only appropriate that a long-range attack like the Fort Campbell Falcons launched during their game against Cloverport Saturday came at the home of the 101st Airborne. The Falcons knocked down eleven three-pointers, eight of them in the second quarter, as they ended a two-game losing skid with a 75-53 win over the Aces.
Off a big start from Nathan Poole, Cloverport actually led the contest 14-10 at the end of the opening quarter. Then came the fun for the Falcons.
In the second quarter, four different Falcons combined to knock down eight shots from behind the arc as the Fort Campbell offense erupted for 30 points. Daniel Castro led the long-range attack with three. Aidan Blaszkowski and Maurice Moore added two each. That blitz would give the Falcons a 40-28 lead going into the half, and it was a lead the Falcons would not give back.
The Falcon lead would be 53-43 at the end of the third quarter. Led by Aidan Blaszkowski’s 10 fourth-quarter points, the Falcons were able to pull out to the final 22-point margin.
Blaszkowski finished with 25 to top the Fort Campbell scoring list. Daniel Castro and Maurice Moore added 16 points each.
Cole Weatherholt was the leading scorer for Cloverport with 19. Nathan Poole added 15.
Fort Campbell improves to 2-3 with the win. The Falcons go on the road Tuesday to take on Dawson Springs.
