Two Kentucky high school underclassmen continue to get a lot of attention from high profile Division I coaches.
Sophomore Jasper Johnson of Woodford County and junior Travis Perry of Lyon County are putting on big-time performances to keep college coaches coming back for more, too.
In a 75-71 win over Louisville Male Friday night, Woodford was down 22 points with 7:39 left in the fourth quarter before Johnson led a comeback that got the overtime win. He had 27 of his 41 points in the second half and hit a 3-pointer before the buzzer in the fourth quarter to force overtime.
He fouled out but his father, former UK all-SEC defensive end and current Woodford County football coach Dennis Johnson, said his son just went “crazy” and it reminded him of the time Tayshaun Prince hit five 3-pointers in a short span in Rupp Arena for UK against North Carolina.
On Sunday, Woodford played Buchtel (Ohio) and Nevada commit Amire Robinson in Freedom Hall in the Louisville Play by Play Classic that also had UK signees Reed Sheppard and Justin Edwards playing against each other in another game.
Kentucky assistant coach Orlando Antigua came to Louisville to watch the 6-2 Johnson. He had been to Woodford earlier to watch him work out.

Jasper Johnson is a top-20 prospect in the 2025 recruiting class and a four-star prospect who is trending toward becoming a five-star player. The lefty has terrific quickness and is a willing/aggressive defender, too. He also has a nifty touch around the basket to go with his long-distance shooting.
Other schools contacting Jasper Johnson regularly are Louisville, Arkansas, Alabama, Indiana and Florida State. He also took visits to Ohio State and Notre Dame during football season.
Travis Perry
Perry had the fifth 40-point game in his career Saturday when he poured in 41 points in an 85-72 victory over Christian County with Michigan coach Juwan Howard watching him.
Not only was that a big scoring game, but it moved Perry ahead of Harlan’s Charles Thomas for seventh on the all-time scoring list in Kentucky. He now has 3,369 points and is now 969 points away from breaking the state’s all-time high school scoring record held by King Kelly Coleman.
Purdue’s Matt Painter was in to see Perry play at the Marshall County Hoopfest. He is averaging about 30 points and five rebounds per game.
Earlier this season he moved ahead of Ty Rogers as Lyon County’s all-time scoring leader. He also earned a scholarship offer from Kentucky a few months ago and has offers from Michigan, Purdue, Mississippi, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Bradley, Creighton, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, New Orleans, Ohio State and Wake Forest.
Kensley Feltner
Lawrence County senior Kensley Feltner, a Belmont signee, became the school’s all-time leading scorer last week when she scored 43 points against Letcher County Central to raise her total to 3,241 points — 32 more than previous record holder Timmy Dalton.

Feltner will be honored for her record before tonight’s game at Russell where she could also become one of the state’s top 10 all-time leading scorers. She had 25 points on 10-for-13 shooting along with 12 rebounds in a 74-27 win over Pike County Central to increase her point total to 3,266 points — tied for 12th best in state history.
She needs 15 points to move into 10th place and has a chance this year to become only the fourth female player in state history with 4,000 career points.

Looks like home state is producing some high power bb talent !
Seems like it’s been a while ? Lulvul produced so many D1 players in the 60’s/70’s. Think about this – Wes Unseld was 3 time state champ @ Seneca ( losing one game in three years to Shelby County with Casey and Busey ). Followed that with being 2 time 1st team all American @ UL THEN, wonder of wonders was ( in his rookie year ) was the NBA player of the year – whew ! Rupp recruited him but he told his Dad “ I just don’t to be the one”. Can’t blame him – great kid/man.
