Lyon County is known for its shooting acremen from the outside but had to hold off a 3-point shooting barrage from Harlan County to snag a 76-73 win in the first round of the King of the Bluegrass Tournament Saturday night in Louisville.
The Lyons held the lead throughout the game, thanks to shooting 52-percent from the field and turning the ball over just eight times.
Down 61-47 after three quarters, Harlan County started connecting from the outside to rally back. The Black Bears hit 8-of-16 from 3-point range in the second half and 14-of-29 for the game. Harlan County hit just 15-of-36 shots inside the arc.
Lyon County hit 7-of-19 from the 3-point range and was 9-of-15 at the free throw line.

Travis Perry led the Lyons with 29 points on 12-of-24 shooting. He added eight rebounds and five assists.
Brady Shoulders scored 20 points and pulled down eight rebounds, and Jack Reddick scored 13 points and handed out four assists.
Harlan County also had three players score in double figures led by Trent Noah’s 22 points and 13 rebounds.
Lyon County will play LaRue County in Sunday’s quarterfinals. The Hawks (5-2) beat Fairdale 73-67 Saturday.
