
On Monday, the Christian County boys’ basketball team was in Murfreesboro, TN to open play at the Adidas Shootout at Riverdale High School, falling 76-58 to Oakland, TN.
With the Colonels trailing by six after the first quarter, Derrell Bateman got hot from the outside with four three-pointers to score 14 of the Colonels’ 19 points in the frame.
However, Jevon Ballard tossed in nine for Oakland, and the Patriots led by 13 at the break.
Ballard kept the hot hand for Oakland with seven more points in the third, and the Colonels were outscored by five to trail 61-43 with a quarter to play.
JaSean Riley knocked down a pair of threes to try to lead a Colonel fourth-quarter comeback, but they slipped to their fifth defeat in their last six.
Bateman finished with 22 points to lead the Colonels. Ballard netted 22 for Oakland, followed by Marshall Ashley with 12 and Avery Carter with ten.
Christian County will be back in Murfreesboro on Tuesday to face Montgomery Bell Academy, TN.
