After one quarter Tuesday evening, it looked as if the Fort Campbell Falcons were well on their way to ending their five game losing streak. However, the Livingston Central Cardinals had other plans during their visit to post.
The Cardinals used a big run to open the second quarter and take control of the game as Livingston Central picked up a 54-42 road win over the Falcons.
Fort Campbell led the game 16-7 after the opening quarter. But that lead would be short-lived as the Cardinals scored the first 13 points of the second quarter to take a 20-16 lead. It would be a lead that the Cardinals would not surrender for the rest of the night.
Livingston’s defense would give up just five points in the second quarter as the Cardinals took a 27-21 lead into the break.
Livingston Central kept that momentum in the third quarter as they outscored the Falcons 18-10 to run their lead out to 45-31 going into the final eight minutes of the game.
The Falcons would not be able to mount a comeback effort over the final quarter as the Cardinals would hold on for a 12-point win.
Aidan Blaszkowski led the Fort Campbell effort with 14 points. Maurice Moore was the other Falcon to hit double figures with 10. Lashaud Smiley and Amari Waddy finished with four points each.
Will Orr had a big night for Livingston, finishing with 19 points, including four made 3-pointers. Logan Wring was the other Cardinal to reach double figures with 15. Drew Hosick finished the game with eight points.
The loss, which was the Falcons’ sixth straight, drops Fort Campbell to 2-9 on the season. Fort Campbell is set to host Foundation Christian on Friday.
Livingston Central moves to 5-8 and will host Lyon County Friday night.
