Christian County High School has turned to a familiar face to lead its soccer program in 2023.

Avery Seeger was named the soccer coach for the boys’ program Monday. He has served as an assistant coach to his father the last two years after playing for him as a Colonel player.

Seeger is a 2014 graduate of Christian County High School and continued his collegiate soccer career at the University of Cumberlands, where he played all four years, graduating in 2018.

Seeger’s father Arne announced after the season that he was not returning for a third year in his second go-round as Colonel head coach.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Seeger as head coach of the Colonels,” CCHS Athletic Director Trey Wheeler said. “We believe Coach Seeger will continue to build the soccer program his father has established, and we look forward to seeing the team continue to grow.”

Seeger inherits a team that went from winless in 2021 to seven wins in 2022.

“I’m thrilled to continue the progress that the program has made over the last two years and hope to elevate that progress even further,” Seeger said. “I would like to thank the Christian County High School Administration and Coach Wheeler for their continued support. I would also like to thank my father for his guidance and coaching over the years. I look forward to getting back to the field with our hard-working and committed young men to continue our vision for the program.”
