Falcons Exit All A Region With Loss to Dawson Springs

For the third time this season, the Fort Campbell Falcons came out on the wrong end of a matchup with Dawson Springs, falling 56-43 on Tuesday to bow out of the 2nd Region All ‘A’ Classic.

The Panthers snap a five-game losing run to advance to a semifinal meeting with Heritage Christian Academy on Friday at Caldwell County.

Jaydon Plunkette and Casey Fain combined to score half of Dawson Springs’ points in the opening quarter, overcoming five points from Fort Campbell’s Dason Tate to lead 16-11.

Things got worse for Fort Campbell in the second quarter, with the Falcons managing only five points in the frame. Plunkette, a freshman, canned a pair of three-pointers to post eight points, and the Panthers doubled up the Falcons 32-16 at the break.

The Falcons rallied in the second half and outscored the Panthers 27-24 the rest of the way but couldn’t get enough stops to mount a comeback. Fort Campbell’s Aidan Blaszkowski scored 11 of his team-high 13 over the final two quarters while also hauling down nine rebounds.

Maurice Moore finished with 13 points and seven boards for the Falcons, and Tate scored 11.

Rex Blue scored eight in the fourth, including a pair of three-pointers, to finish with 18 to lead the Panthers. Plunkette also reached double figures with 16, and Montgomery Johnston had 12.

Fort Campbell slipped to 3-10 and will head to the Superman Classic in Metropolis. IL from January 17-21.
