
The Hopkinsville Tigers may be reluctant to leave the Banterra Bank Warrior Showcase after evening their weekend record with a 99-59 blowout of Evansville Bosse on Saturday.
Bubba Leavell and KeiMarion Smith, in particular, will be hard to get out the door of Harrison High School after the seniors combined to knock down 12 three-pointers in the win, part of 22 Tiger makes in two games.
The first quarter of Saturday’s matchup featured 57 combined points, including a trio of three-pointers by Smith and nine points for Hopkinsville’s Antonio Williams.
Taray Howell did his best to help Bosse keep pace with 12 points in the opening frame, but the Tigers still led by nine after eight minutes.
Williams poured in 12 points in the second quarter, and Leavell hit a pair of threes to go with six more for Smith. The Tigers took a comfortable 57-37 advantage into the locker room despite eight more points for Powell to reach 20 at the half for Bosse.
Smith connected on the last two of his seven triples during a ten-point third to finish with 27 points and eight rebounds. Williams scored 11 after the break for a team-high 32 and also led the Tigers with 17 boards. Leavell finished with 19 points, and Isaiah Manning scored ten with eight rebounds.
Hopkinsville snapped a four-game skid to improve to 6-10 with a trip to Madisonville-North Hopkins on Monday.
