
Mayfield opened up a double-digit lead early and went on to defeat Caldwell County’s girls 54-25 Saturday afternoon.
The visiting Lady Tigers (4-13) struggled to find their offense all day.
The Lady Cardinals (11-6) built a 21-5 advantage after one quarter and took a 28-9 lead to halftime. It was 40-17 after three quarters.
Lay Mayes was the only player in the game to score in double figures, getting 21 points for Mayfield. Emma Morris and Lexi Feagin each had nine points.
Presley McKinney led Caldwell with six points.
The Lady Tigers have now dropped five straight games and nine of their last 10.
Caldwell took a pair of close games from Mayfield last season. The Lady Cardinals lead the all-time series 4-2.
Caldwell’s girls are scheduled to host University Heights Academy on Tuesday.
