The points dried up in the second half for the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors on Monday, allowing visiting Logan County to rally for a 47-39 victory and put the brakes on a three-game losing run.

Coming off a 57-41 victory over Bethel Christian Academy on Friday in which they knocked down seven three-pointers, the Warriors used a pair of makes from behind the arc by Jason Leek to lead 13-11 after the first quarter on Monday.

A triple by Trentin Fowler gave the Warriors a five point edge with just over two minutes left in the first half, and they took their largest lead of the night at 26-19 after two free throws to cap an eight-point quarter for Leek.

However, the Warriors emerged from the halftime break to find a lid on the basket, and Logan County used an 8-1 run to tie the game at 27-27 after a basket on a drive by Brady Hinton.

Jack Delaney knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the last minute and twenty seconds, and the Cougars led 35-22 as the game went to the fourth quarter.

Fowler opened the final frame with a three, but the one-point advantage would be the Warriors’ last of the night.  Logan County took the lead for good on a drive by Delaney with 3:05 left, and the Cougars went eight for ten from the free throw line the rest of the way to seal the victory.

Delaney hit five of six free throws down the stretch to finish with a game-high 20 points.  Leek was the lone Warrior in double figures with 18, but he was held to just four points after halftime.

HCA now turns its attention to the KCAC state tournament where the Warriors face Oneida Baptist Institute on Friday.

Logan County improved to 7-13 with a 13th-District matchup with Russellville coming up on Friday.
