Caldwell’s Girls End Skid by Routing UHA 63-30

Caldwell County’s girls ended a five-game losing skid in a big way Tuesday night, routing University Heights Academy 63-30.

The Lady Tigers pulled away in the third quarter to beat the Lady Blazers for the second time this season.

UHA ran out to a 5-0 lead at the CAB gym in Princeton, but Caldwell countered with a 16-2 run to take the lead for good.

An A.J. Hollowell 3-pointer put the Lady Tigers up 16-7 early in the second period. It was one of five shots from behind the arc for Hollowell in the contest.

Caldwell led 29-18 at the break, then used a 15-2 run in the third quarter to blow the game open.

The Lady Tigers took a 49-25 lead to the fourth period and led by as much as 36 points late in the game.

Caldwell (5-13) used a strong rebounding effort in the dominating performance. The Lady Tigers held a 73-32 advantage on the glass, with four Caldwell players recording double-digit board totals.

Tink Clark led the way offensively with 20 points. Hollowell finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Presley McKinney also had a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.

Nyla Sykes had a team-high 15 rebounds to go with six points. KeDarriah Thompson did not score but pulled down 11 rebounds in the win.

Amarya Bass had 11 points and seven rebounds for University Heights (4-15). Alicia Davis had nine points and six boards. Kennady Quarles added eight points.

Caldwell has taken five straight from UHA. The Lady Tigers lead the all-time series 17-8.

Caldwell will play again on Friday when it hosts Madisonville-North Hopkins for a Homecoming night boys and girls doubleheader.

UHA plays again on Saturday when it goes to Union County.
