He didn’t get a chance to show what he could do at receiver during the 2022 football season but coach Mark Stoops has pointed out what a bright future he has. However, he’s already showing just how bright his future on the track can be.
Anthony broke the UK freshman record in the 60-meter dash at the Red Raider Open in Lubbock, Texas, last weekend and was named Southeastern Conference Freshman Athlete of the Week Tuesday.
He ran the 60-meter dash in 6.55 seconds to break the UK freshman record for the second week in a row. He was within 0.01 of the overall school record held by Olympian Tim Harden. Anthony is already ranked No. 4 in the NCAA in the 60-meter dash.
“Plenty more to come,” Anthony tweeted Tuesday after it was announced he won the SEC award.
Teammate Masai Russell broke the collegiate record in the 60-meter hurdles last week and was named the Southeastern Conference Female Runner of the Week as well as the co-NCAA Division I Women’s Athlete of the Week by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Russell finished the 60 hurdles in 7.75 seconds, breaking the mark of 7.78 seconds set by Grace Stark of Florida at the 2022 NCAA Championships and Brianna Rollins of Clemson in 2013.
The Kentucky record of 7.87 seconds had been set by Olympic medalist Keni Harrison when she won the 2015 NCAA Championship.
Russell joins Abby Steiner (200-meter indoor and outdoor, 2022); Sydney McLaughlin (400 hurdles, 2018); and UK’s 2022 4×400 outdoor relay (Megan Moss, Steiner, Karimah Davis, Alexis Holmes) as collegiate record holders.

Thanks Larry for keeping us updated on all UK sports. I can’t imagine what he could do as a slot receiver. Him, Brown and Key on the field at the same time would scare any defensive coordinator in the country. I hope he gets the chance to show his skills soon before the transfer portal comes after him!
I think he can be awesome UKFmly
