The Hoptown Hoppers summer collegiate baseball team has announced local businessman Danny Roberts as the team’s new general manager starting with the 2023 season. Roberts, vice-president of operations at BryMak & Associates, is a longtime Hoppers fan and the fourth GM in Hoppers’ franchise history.
“Hoppers baseball is a vital part of Hopkinsville’s community. The program strives to bring family, friends, and the community as a whole together. I am extremely thankful to be given the opportunity to continue working on improving the program. I aim to keep the Hoppers tradition going,” Roberts said in a media release.
Hoppers Board Chairman Charlie Henderson said the interview committee was impressed by Roberts’ management skills and his enthusiasm for the future during the interview process.
“The Hoptown Hoppers organization is excited to welcome Danny Roberts as our next GM. He is a highly motivated individual with excellent organizational and time management skills,” Henderson said. “Along with the entire board, I look forward to working alongside Danny as he leads our baseball operations this upcoming season.”
Roberts replaces Ted Jatczak who stepped down as GM last September after serving since the 2019 season.
The Hoppers finished the 2022 season with a 22-16 mark as runners-up in the Ohio Valley League’s South Division, a record good enough for third best in the league.
In addition to a new GM, the Hoppers will be led by new skipper E.J. Devarie, who has been busy building the 2023 squad since his announcement in early October.
