Maroons Rout Caldwell to Maintain Grip on 7th District

Madisonville-North Hopkins maintained its grip on the top spot in the 7th District, leading wire-to-wire Friday night while winning 86-35 at Caldwell County.

The Maroons (16-7 overall, 4-0 district) opened the game with a 14-1 run and led 36-16 at halftime.

Madisonville continued to stretch out the margin in the second half. A 26-5 advantage in the fourth quarter pushed the final difference to 51 points.

Javion Martin had 23 points to pace the Maroons. Brayden Butler added 12 points and Christopher Watkins had 11.

It was the 100th meeting between the two schools. Madisonville now owns 89 wins in those get-togethers. The Maroons have won the last 15 matchups.

Caldwell (4-14, 1-3) got 12 points apiece from Zavy Bumphus and Carter Whittington.

The Tigers have another district date coming up on Tuesday when they visit Hopkins County Central.

Madisonville is scheduled to go to Owensboro Catholic on Tuesday.
