
The 2023 Caldwell County Tiger football schedule is set — and it has three new regular-season opponents and two new scrimmage foes.
Hopkins County Central, Graves County and McCracken County take the places of Hopkinsville, Fort Campbell and Ballard Memorial on the regular-season slate.
Hancock County and Owensboro Apollo replace Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic in Caldwell’s two scrimmages. The Hornets will visit Princeton Aug. 4 while the Tigers go to Apollo on Aug. 11 for preseason games.
Caldwell kicks off the regular season at a pair of schools that are 7th District opponents for CCHS in many sports. The Tigers visit Class 3A Hopkins Central on Aug. 18 before going to 5A Madisonville-North Hopkins on Aug. 25.
The first home game is Sept. 1 against 3A Union County. Class 5A Graves County then pays a visit to Tiger Stadium on Sept. 8.
Caldwell makes its first trip to 6A McCracken County on Sept. 15.
The Tigers will host 6A Christian County on Sept. 22. That will be the last game against the Colonels, who will become the Hopkinsville Christian Christian Academy Wolfpack next year following consolidation.
Caldwell has just three Class 2A 1st District opponents this fall under the new alignment for 2023 and 2024. The first district date is Sept. 29 when Mayfield visits Princeton.
After an off week on Oct. 6, the Tigers go to Murray on Oct. 13 for their second district game.
Caldwell plays its last district game on Oct. 20 when it visits district newcomer Crittenden County.
The Tigers will conclude the 2023 regular season on Oct. 27 when Class 3A Trigg County travels to Tiger Stadium for the annual 139 Bowl.
The 2024 schedule will feature the same lineup, with just the home and away designations reversed.
Caldwell went 5-6 last season, bowing to McLean County in the first round of the playoffs.
