
With the Hopkinsville boys’ basketball team honoring six seniors on Thursday, the Tigers dialed up 16 three-pointers to blast visiting Fort Campbell 93-40 and even their 8th-District record at 2-2.
Hoptown raced out to an 8-0 lead capped by a dunk off the glass by Antonio Williams. Williams scored nine points, and senior Bubba Leavell added seven to push the Tigers to a 27-7 advantage after a quarter.
Fort Campbell’s Aidan Blaszkowski scored seven points in the second, but Hoptown senior KeiMarion Smith got started on a big night with seven points to help the Tigers to a 51-24 halftime lead.
Smith emerged from the locker room red-hot for the Tigers, draining four three-pointers in the third frame to cap a 21-point effort. Hoptown triggered a running clock at 59-24 two minutes into the second half.
The Tigers finished 16 for 29 from behind the arc and won the rebounding battle 34-19. Five of Fort Campbell’s 13 field goals were three-pointers, including four for Blaszkowski to finish with a team-high 18 points.
For Hoptown, Williams followed Smith with 16 points, and Leavell finished with 14. Senior Jakob Gavin had 11, and DeAvery Ramey scored ten.
The Tigers snapped a two-game skid to move to 9-14 with a trip to Northwest, TN coming up on Tuesday. Fort Campbell remained winless in district play to slip to 4-15. The Falcons will host University Heights Academy on Monday.
