Coming off a tough district loss to Crittenden County, the Lyon County Lady Lyons were looking for a little bit of positive momentum as the final two weeks of the regular season get underway next week. The Lady Lyons got that positive mojo as they rolled past Caldwell County 61-49 Friday night in Eddyville.
The Lady Lyons scored the first four points of the game and would not trail during the game. After a Caldwell County basket from Ka Myiah Clark, the Lady Lyons ripped off an 11-0 run to take a 15-2 lead. A big part of the run was keyed by the Lyon County pressure defense which led to runouts and layups at the other end. Lexi Holland and Ella Defew helped to get Lyon County off and running. By the time the quarter ended, the Lady Lyon lead was at 21-5.

Caldwell County dealt with the Lyon County pressure better in the second quarter and got in a bit of a rhythm on the offensive end. The problem for the Lady Tigers was they could not get enough defensive stops to start chewing into the Lyon County lead. The Lady Tigers had trouble finding a way to contain Courtney Collins down in the paint. The two teams went off to the break with Lyon County holding a 38-20 lead.
The Lady Tigers made a move to get into the game early in the third quarter. With Ka’Myiah Clark leading the way, Caldwell County used an 8-0 run to close the gap to 40-28. The Lady Lyons had a response, however, as they returned the favor with a 10-0 run of their own to extend the lead back out to 50-28. Trinity Taylor and Courtney Collins provided a 1-2 punch to turn back the Lady Tiger rally. The third quarter would end with Lyon County in control 54-36.
Lyon County was able to keep the Lady Tigers at bay the rest of the way as they held on for the 12-point win. Caldwell County did trim the margin some by scoring the final six points of the game.

Courtney Collins was one of three Lady Lyons in double-figures with 15 points. Lexi Holland had 11, while Trinity Taylor added 10.
A big night for Caldwell County’s Ka’Myiah Clark, who finished with 22 points. A.J. Hollowell chipped in with 10 points.
The Lady Lyons improved to 8-13 with the win. Caldwell County drops to 6-16.
