It is now three straight Top 3 finishes at the girls’ state wrestling tournament for Trigg County’s MaKenna Hendricks. Hendricks claimed third place in the 152 division over the weekend in the state meet.
Two years ago, Hendricks claimed a state championship. Last year, she finished second in her class.
Hendricks defeated Gabriela Palomo, of North Hardin, in the third-place match.
Sierra Young, of Madison Southern, won the 152 division, with Jenny Fortner, of Harrison County coming in second. It was Young that defeated Hendricks in the semifinal.
Hendricks started her day Saturday with a bye, then won back-to-back matches by pins, before falling to Young in the semis.
