The Lyon County Lady Lyons used a good start Tuesday night to carry them to a 2nd Region road win at University Heights. Led by the 1-2 combination of Piper Cotham and Trinity Taylor, the Lady Lyons won their second straight game with a 66-52 win over the Lady Blazers.
Taylor scored nine points in the opening quarter as the Lady Lyons took a 21-11 lead. Lyon County kept their offense rolling as they extended the lead to 37-20 at the half. Lee Lee Love and Kennady Quarles battled to keep the Lady Blazers within shouting distance at the half.
The two teams played even in the third quarter, with Lyon County leading 52-35 when the quarter came to an end. UHA got another big quarter from Lee Lee Love, who scored ten points in the third.
Despite a big effort from Kennady Quarles in the fourth, the Lady Blazers were only able to trim one point off the lead over the final eight minutes of the game as Lyon County held on for the 14 point win.
Piper Cotham scored 20 points to lead the Lady Lyons. Trinity Taylor added 18.
For UHA, Lee Lee Love finished the night with 23 points. Kennady Quarles scored 17. Alicia Davis also hit double-figures with 12.
Lyon County moves to 9-13 with the win, while UHA falls to 5-18.
