Four wrestlers from Hopkinsville and Christian County with the last name of Leavell have finished in the top three at the state wrestling tournament through the years. Christian County freshman Deameion Leavell is looking to add his name to that list.
Leavell is the No. 13 wrestler in the 150-pound class and takes a 16-9 record into Saturday’s region tournament at Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium. He also bears the cross of the Leavell family on the mat. His father Damien Leavell won a state title in 1999.
