Logan County took advantage of 26 trips to the free-throw line to knock off visiting Heritage Christian Academy 51-45 in overtime on Monday.

All but two of the Cougars’ points in overtime came at the charity stripe, and the Warriors were outscored by 12 at the line for the game.  Logan County halted a four-game losing streak to improve to 9-20, while HCA slipped to 6-14 against KHSAA teams.

Logan’s Jack Delaney and Colby Collins combined for 11 first-quarter points, but the Warriors got four each from Jason Leek and Carlos Robles to lead 15-13.

Leek scored six in the second frame to reach double figures before the break.  Collins drilled a pair of three-pointers, and Zane Batten added five points to trim the HCA advantage to a point at the half.

The Warriors went cold after the break, scoring only 14 points in the second half.  Collins scored five in the fourth for the Cougars, and Brady Hinton chipped in four to send the game to overtime.

HCA was doubled-up in OT, with Kade Wall going eight for ten at the free-throw line to close out the victory for Logan County.  The Cougars were 10 for 12 in the extra frame and finished 19 of 26 for the game.

Leek scored 21 to lead all scorers, and Robles had ten for the Warriors.

Collins scored 16 on the strength of four three-pointers, Delaney had 11, and Wall finished with ten.

HCA will close out its regular-season slate on Tuesday with a trip to Dawson Springs.  The Warriors were overtime winners over the Panthers on the way to a runner-up showing in the 2nd Region All-A Classic earlier this season.
