Lady Warriors Close Regular Season With Win at St. Mary

The Heritage Christian Academy girls basketball team wrapped up the KHSAA portion of its schedule on Monday, avenging a previous loss to St. Mary with a 52-48 victory in Paducah.

The Lady Warriors concluded the regular season with two-straight wins to improve to 4-6.  They are 7-3 in KCAA play and will begin the postseason later this month.

HCA was slow out of the gate against the Lady Vikings, trailing 13-5 after the first quarter.  Mason Clements provided the early offense for St. Mary with a pair of three-pointers.

Liana Carr and Hallie Zieg combined for ten points in the second for HCA, and Bailey Craft chipped in five to outscore St.Mary by seven.  The Lady Warriors went to the locker room trailing 24-23.

Zieg scored eight of the Lady Warriors’ 12 third-quarter points, and they tied the game at 35-35 with a quarter to play.

Kaitlynn Burrus put up five points in the final frame for St. Mary, but Bailey and Carr combined for eight, and Zieg added six to finish with a game-high 20 and claim the Lady Warriors’ third win in their last four outings.

Zieg hauled down 12 rebounds to finish with a double-double, as did Craft with 12 points and 11 boards.  Kate St. Martin finished with six points and collected nine rebounds.
