University Heights Academy did not look for very long or very far to find its new head baseball coach. The school announced late Monday afternoon that Scott Gentry had been tabbed to be the next coach. The announcement came on the first day of ‘official’ practice for teams across the state.
Gentry brings over 10 years of middle, high, and travel/club coaching experience to the program.
In addition to his coaching background, Gentry was an accomplished athlete in both baseball and soccer at Christian County High School. He was part of the Christian County state championship in 2004, runner-up finish in 2005, and the Final 4 appearance in 2006.
Gentry will be assisted by Michael Crow and Chance Carner.
The announcement of Gentry as the new head baseball coach comes just three days after UHA announced that Chris Hamby had stepped down from the position.
The Blazers are set to open the season March 13 when they host Henderson County.
