The story of the day Saturday for the Christian County Colonels in their preseason opener was pitching. The Colonels got five innings of one-hit baseball from a combination of three pitchers as they picked up a 3-2 win at Franklin-Simpson.

Both teams scored all of their runs in the first two innings. For Christian County, Carter Sholar drove in a run in the first with a double to center.

After the Wildcats tied it in the bottom of the first, the Colonels took the lead back with a pair of unearned runs in the top of the second. Franklin-Simpson scored one in the bottom of the inning and that was it for offense for the night.

Aiden Lewis gave up 2 runs on four hits, while striking out five as the starter. Elijah Underhill worked two innings, giving up just one hit and striking out four. Gage Montes went two innings, giving up no runs on no hits, and striking out three. Carter Sholar pitched the final inning, giving up no runs on no hits, and striking out one.
