The Todd County Central Lady Rebels took full advantage of two Monroe County errors in the top of the seventh inning to come from behind and take a 10-8 win over the Lady Falcons in their opening round game of the 4th Region All A Classic in Tomkinsville. The Lady Rebels entered their final at-bat trailing 8-6.
The Lady Rebels got their comeback going with back-to-back-to-back singles from Naomi Welborn, Addison Woodall, and Abby Williams to load the bases with nobody out in the top of the seventh. Rylann Griggs then hit a ball to left and reached base on an error that allowed Welborn and Woodall to score, tying the game at 8-8.
Dakotah Gammon then hit another ball to left field that was misplayed and allowed Abby Williams to score, giving the Lady Rebels a 9-8 lead. A groundout would later allow Griggs to score an insurance run, extending the Todd Central lead to 10-8.
Abby McPherson then set Monroe County down in the bottom half of the inning to close out the comeback victory.
The Lady Rebel rally came after Monroe County had scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to turn a 6-3 deficit into an 8-6 lead.
Abby Williams had a big day at the plate for the Lady Rebels, going 4-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Addison Woodall finished 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Abby McPherson was 2-3 with a home run, an RBI, and two runs scored. Averie Luckenbill ended up 2-5 with a pair of RBIs.
The Lady Rebels (3-2) managed to pick up the win, despite being charged with seven errors in the game. Monroe County was charged with six fielding miscues.
In the circle, Abby McPherson went seven innings for the Lady Rebels, giving up eight runs, only three of them earned, striking out 13 and walking four.
