Colonel Relay Squads Highlight Big Day at the Invitational of the South

Christian County’s 400-meter relay team ran a school record time to highlight the Colonels’ seventh place Saturday at the Invitational of the South Track and Field Meet at Marshall County High School.

Names made the single-lap circuit of the track in 43.60 seconds. That time broke the previous best of 43.98 seconds in 2001 and equaled it in 2012. Both of those were run at the Class 3A State Meet.

Christian County also picked up a win in the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:32.83. The 1600-meter relay team capped the nearly 10-hour day with a third-place finish in 3:40.28. The 3200-meter relay team also placed third (9:20.21).

SPRINTS

Three members of the relay team also had strong finishes in the 100-meter dash. Blanton finished fifth (11.63), Dove was 10th (11.81), and Matlock was 12th (12.05).

Meanwhile, Hawkins was eighth in the 200 meters (23.83) and Matlock was 12th (24.09).

Cyrus Greenwade finished 18th in the 400-meter run (55.27), and Brown was 20th (55.78).

MIDDLE DISTANCE

In the middle distance events, Michael Webb finished in 13th place in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:08.35. Wyatt Fleming finished 27th (5:31.24).

Fleming also finished in 20th place in the 800-meter run in 2:21.86. Hector Munoz was 28th in 2:24.83.

Cayden Cline took 10th place in the freshman 1600-meter race in 5:43.67. Max Ray was 28th in 6:32.88.

FIELD EVENTS

Sophomore Chris McCarley won the discus throw with a heave of 131 feet, setting a new personal best by nearly three feet. He also finished in 14th place in the shot put with a toss of 37 feet, 4.5 inches.

Treshawn Crenshaw came in 52nd place in the shot put with a throw of 23 feet and was 54th in the discus throw (46-03).

TEAM FINISH

The Colonels finished in seventh place with 48 points. Marshall County won the 28-team event with 93.5 points. McCracken County was second with 88 points, and Warren East was third with 74 points.
