The Trigg County Lady Wildcats had their backs against the wall and responded, putting the Russellville Lady Panthers in the same situation, and like the Lady Wildcats, the Lady Panthers had an answer. Trailing 1-0 in the top of the seventh, Trigg County scored four runs only to see the Lady Panthers score four of their own in the bottom half of the inning and take a walk-off 5-4 win over the Lady Wildcats in Russellville.

Crissy Higgins singled with the bases-load and one out in the bottom of the 7th to score the tying and winning runs and complete the final inning comeback after the Lady Panthers entered their final at-bat trailing 4-1.

Russellville had taken a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third, taking advantage of a single and two Trigg County errors.

Trigg County (2-4) finally broke through in the top of the seventh and it was Russellville miscues that opened the door. The Lady Panthers were charged with errors to the first three batters in the top of the seventh to give Trigg a 2-1 lead. Then, with two outs, Brynlee Smock took one over the left field fence, putting the Lady Wildcats seemingly in control at 4-1.

A single and back-to-back doubles to lead off the bottom of the seventh set the stage for Higgins’ game-winner.

Kiley Stone was 2-3 for the Lady Wildcats. Brynlee Smock was 1-4 with the home run and two RBIs. Vada Grinols was 1-3 with a run scored.

Avery Wade got the start in the circle for Trigg County, going three innings, giving up just the one unearned run on two hits, striking out one and walking two. Tember Oliver pitched the final 3 1/3 innings, giving up four runs on six hits, striking out four, while walking one.
