
DeAijah Tullis captured four top-10 finishes to highlight Hopkinsville’s day on the track at Saturday’s Invitational of the South Track and Field Meet at Marshall County High School.
SPRINTS
Tullis finished in fifth place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 54.66 seconds. She was also seventh in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.08 seconds.
Freshman Grace Cansler made her track and field debut with an 11th-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 28.71 seconds.
Janiyah Rhodes finished in 33rd place in 30.47 seconds, and Arniya Brown was 43rd in 32 seconds.
Brylee LeBron finished in 20th place in the 300-meter hurdles in 1:03.35 and was 24th in the 100-meter hurdles in 24.21 seconds.
FIELD EVENTS
In addition to her solid hurdles finishes, Tullis finished second in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 4-inches, just missing Zenae Humphries’ school record by an inch. She was fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 31 feet, 7.5 inches.
In the long jump, Antavia Shemwell finished 24th in the long jump (12-03), and Grace Cansler was 31st with a distance of 11 feet, 6 inches.
LaTaijha Cherry had the best finish for Hopkinsville in the shot put with a heave of 28 feet, 2 inches, good for 13th place. She also finished 46th in the discus throw (43-04).
MIDDLE DISTANCE
Alexis Herrera Loveto took home an eighth-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:42.04. She also finished eighth in the freshman 1600-meter run in 6:30.80.
Lauren Mayes also had an eighth-place finish. She ran the mile in 6:13.16. Her best finish came in the 3200-meter run where her time of 13:20.48.
Anarria Settles finished in 10th place in the 400-meter run in 1:07.27 seconds.
Amaya Burse was 17th in the 400-meter run (1:09.53).
Kaydon Coats was 26th in the 800-meter run in 3:00.59 and was 12th in the freshman 1600-meter run in 6:45.67.
RELAYS
Hopkinsville’s best finish was in the 1600-meter relay. They completed four laps in 4:36.88.
Hoptown was eighth in the 800-meter relay (1:57.94), 11th in the 3200-meter relay (12:14.42), and 15th in the 400-meter relay (57.12).
TEAM SCORE
In the team standings, Hopkinsville finished in 12th place with 30 points, 3.5 points behind 11th place McCracken County.
