
The Todd County Central softball team slipped to 3-3 and dropped its 13th-District opener with a shutout loss at Russellville on Tuesday.
Russellville won its sixth straight game after an opening night defeat and claimed its 14th consecutive win in the series with the Lady Rebels.
The Lady Panthers got all the offense they would need in the bottom of the 1st, opening the scoring on an RBI single by Jaylah Kees and adding a pair of runs on Crissy Higgins’ single.
A’Miyah Collier was dominant in the circle for the Lady Panthers, scattering four hits with two walks and four strikeouts to earn the win.
Collier also had a pair of hits, Kees hit safely twice with two RBI, and Higgins was two for three with a run driven in.
Abby McPherson suffered her second loss of the season in the circle, going the distance and allowing three earned runs on ten hits with a walk and seven strikeouts.
Naomi Welborn had two hits for the Lady Rebels, and Naomi Gammon and Addison Woodall each had one.
Todd Central will look to bounce back at McLean County on Thursday before traveling to Clinton County to face Glasgow in the 4th Region All-A Classic on Saturday.
