Rob Cassidy, basketball recruiting director for Rivals.com, was in Houston for the McDonald’s All-American Games and liked what he saw again from the four Kentucky signees.
He wrote that “next season feels like a pivotal one when it comes to public opinion” for UK coach John Calipari.
Cassidy thinks DJ Wagner, Justin Edwards, Aaron Bradshaw and Reed Sheppard gave a “positive” return for UK’s future with what they did in the McDonald’s All-American Game.
Obviously Wagner was the most valuable player on his team and had 19 second-half points. He’s been billed as a special player for years and played that way.
Bradshaw stood out to Cassidy like he did most everyone who watched the game.
“Bradshaw’s combination of length and shooting stroke was one of the most talked about topics of the week, and the future Wildcat flirted with a double-double,” Cassidy wrote.
Cassidy felt Sheppard and Edwards both had a “positive impact” on the game but also stood out in practice sessions.
“If Calipari doesn’t meet his fanbase’s lofty expectations next season, it won‘t be for a lack of talent,” Cassidy wrote.
