Field Events Spur Fourth Place Finish for Hoptown

Strong finishes in the field events helped the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers finish in fourth place Saturday at the Calloway County Laker Invitational. Hoptown had 61 points, which was 13 more than fifth place Marshall County.

Deaijah Tullis had three finishes in the top five. She was second in the high jump, with a personal-best height of five feet on a day when wind gusts continually blew the bar off the supports. It was tied for the fourth-best jump in school history.

Tullis was fifth in the triple jump with a personal-best jump of 31 feet, 9 inches, and was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles. Her attempt for a fourth top-five finish was squelched with a false start in the 100-meter hurdles.

RELAYS

The 3200-meter relay team of Aireona Spikes, Kalajsha Rowe, Lauren Mayes, and Alexis Herrera Loveto ran a season-best time of 11:37.67 to finish in third place.

The 800-meter relay team of Amiya Brown, Janiyah Rhodes, Amaya Burse, and Grace Cansler came in third place in a season-best time of 1:56.16.

The 1600-meter relay team of Amaya Burse, Aireona Spikes, Kalajsha Rowe, and Grace Cansler ran a season-best time of 4:36.81 to finish in fourth place.

The 400-meter relay team of Antavia Semwell, Janiyah Rhodes, Arniya Brown, and Kalajsha Rowe came in ninth place in 57.98 seconds.

SPRINTS

Brylee LeBron finished in 14th place in the 100-meter hurdles in 20.97 seconds and 15th in the 300-meter hurdles in 1:01.93.

Grace Cansler came in third place in the 200 meters in 28.29 seconds and took 12th in the 100-meter dash in 13.84 seconds.

Arniya Brown was 19th in the 200 meters in 31.72 and 22nd in the 100-meter dash in 14.43 seconds.

Janiyah Rhodes was 24th in the 100 meters in 14.57 seconds. She was 18th in the 200 meters in 31.10 seconds.

Anniriah Settles took eighth in the 400-meter run in 1:08.47.

MIDDLE DISTANCE

Lauren Mayes finished in third place in the 3200-meter run in 12:57.75 and fourth place in the 1600-meter run in 6:02.57.

Alexis Herrera Loveto came in seventh place in the 800-meter run with a personal-best time of 2:44.12. She was also ninth in the 1600 meters in 6:40.08

FIELD EVENTS

Alexandria Williams finished sixth in the shot put with a season-best toss of 28 feet, 2 inches.

Antavia Shemwell was 14th in the long jump with a season-best distance of 13 feet, 9 inches.

LaTaijha Cherry came in 18th place in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 24 feet, 2.25 inches.

Kaylyn Lynch was 17th in the triple jump at 22 feet, 5.25 inches, and 25th in the long jump at 11 feet, 4.5 inches.
