The Trigg County softball team’s spring break trip to the mountains continued on Tuesday as the Lady Wildcats squared off with 10-0 Perry County Central.
The Lady Commanders have made a habit of holding their opponents scoreless this season,, with seven of their victories coming by shutout. Sophomore pitcher Kaitlyn Grigsby has been particularly stingy in the circle with a minuscule 0.46 ERA, and Tuesday’s 1-0 win over the Lady Wildcats marked her seventh of the season.
Trigg 8th-grader Tember Oliver was up to the challenge, scattering five hits with zero walks and seven strikeouts. However, Lauren Morris’ RBI double in the 3rd inning was all the Lady Commanders would need.
Rylee Hendricks, MaKenna Hendricks, Emma West, and Livia Breckel each had a hit for Trigg County.
Alyssa Dixon and Taylan Hoskins were each two for three at the plate for Perry County Central.
Trigg County slipped to 4-6 with their second-straight defeat. The Lady Wildcats will face Hazard on Wednesday and close the trip with a matchup against Pike County Central on Thursday.
