Fielding miscues came along Monday evening at the wrong time for the Fort Campbell Falcons. The Falcons were charged with six errors that led to five unearned runs for Livingston Central as the Cardinals claimed an 8-2 win in the quarterfinal round of the 2nd Region All A baseball tournament in Smithland.
Fort Campbell took an early lead in the game, scoring a run on a wild pitch in the top of the second to go up 1-0.
Livingston Central got the run back in the bottom of the inning thanks to a Falcon error to even the game up at 1-1. The Cardinals then seized control of the game in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs. A two-run homer from Jackson Duncan and two Falcon errors were big factors in the inning.
The Cardinals added single runs in the bottom of the fourth and in the bottom of the fifth.
The Falcons got a run in the top of the sixth when Jonah Weisbrich grounded into a bases-loaded fielder’s choice, allowing Jayden Swann to score. But that would be the end of the rally for Fort Campbell.
The Falcons scored their two runs on four hits. Jayden Swann, John Arnold, Adam Harrington, and Ayden Moore had the hits for Fort Campbell.
