The Logan County Lady Cougars came within just a few hours of having a seven-year winning streak over the Todd County Central Lady Rebels. Instead, the Lady Rebels have started a streak of their own.

Todd Central scored all of its runs in the top of the fifth inning Tuesday evening as the Lady Rebels took down the Lady Cougars 6-4 in Russellville. Todd Central’s last win over Logan County came back on April 12, 2016.

Logan County scored first in the game, plating a run in the bottom of the third. Sydni Blick led off the inning with a solo shot to left to give the Lady Cougars a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Rebels began their comeback with one out in the top of the fifth. After a pair of walks and a single by Karli Herrera, Abby McPherson blasted a grand slam over the left field fence to make it 4-1. Three batters later it was Abby Williams with a two-run shot to center to extend the lead to 6-1.

Logan County took a chunk out of the lead with three runs in the bottom of the sixth, but the rally would end there as the Lady Rebels took the win.

McPherson finished 2-4 with the grand slam, 4 RBIs, and a run scored. Williams was 2-3 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored. Averie Luckenbill ended the game 2-3 with a run scored.

In the circle, McPherson picked up the win, going all seven innings, giving up four runs, just one of them earned, on six hits, striking out six while walking none.
