A one run advantage after the first inning held up for the Livingston Central Lady Cardinals Friday evening. Livingston outscored the Todd County Central Lady Rebels 2-1 in the first inning and then held on for a 3-2 win over the Lady Rebels in the Queen City Classic Friday night in Clarksville.
After a walk and a double to lead off the game, the Lady Cardinals were able to score runs on a passed ball and a ground out to take a 2-0 lead.
Todd Central looked like they were going to get those runs back and more in the bottom half of the inning after they loaded the bases with no one out. However, the Lady Rebels managed just one run in the bottom of the first, that run coming on an RBI single from Naomi Welborn.
The Lady Cardinals extended the lead to 3-1 on a sac fly from Victoria Joiner in the top of the third inning.
Todd Central got that run back when Brooklyn Alder was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the third to cut the lead back to one at 3-2.
But that would be the end of the scoring for both teams as the time limit on games for the event ended the contest after five innings.
Naomi Welborn finished 2-3 with an RBI. Karli Herrera, Abby McPherson, Addison Woodall, and Dakotah Gammon also had hits for the Lady Rebels.
McPherson went all five innings in the circle, giving up three runs, two of them earned, on four hits, while striking out four and walking one.
