A night after topping Fort Campbell 7-3 for its first district win, the Hopkinsville baseball team completed the season sweep by the same margin on post on Tuesday.  The Tigers got a strong outing on the mound from Thomas Hallmark and took advantage of six Falcon errors, including two in a five-run 1st inning, to earn a 6-2 victory.

Hopkinsville managed only two hits in the home win over the Falcons, but the Tigers eclipsed that in their first at-bat on Tuesday.  Dylan Sweeney pushed the first run across on a sacrifice fly ahead of an RBI single by Chase Fort and a run-scoring double for Andrew Mayes.

Fort Campbell got a run back on a Hopkinsville error in the bottom of the 2nd, but Hallmark was in control over the first four frames.  He allowed only two hits with a single walk and five strikeouts before handing off the Mayes to start the 5th.

Zach Moss’ solo home run with two out in the 4th restored the Tigers’ five-run cushion, but Jayden Swann answered with a shot over the fence in right-center to lead off the Falcon 6th.

Mayes earned the save, capping three innings of work with a double play to end the game.  Swann’s homer was the only hit Mayes allowed, with two walks and five strikeouts.

Aidan Blaszkowski took the loss for the Falcons, surrendering six runs, one earned, on seven hits with a pair of walks and two strikeouts.

Moss and Gavin Powell both had two hits for the Tigers, who improved to 6-12, 2-1 in 8th-District play, ahead of a trip to Christian County on Friday.

Fort Campbell slipped to 2-14, 0-5 against district competition.
