The McLean County Cougars took advantage of Todd County Central fielding issues and scored the final seven runs of the game Friday night to break a 4-4 tie and take an 11-4 win over the Rebels in Calhoun. The Rebels were charged with seven errors in the game which allowed the Cougars to score six unearned runs.

The troubles in the field started early for the Rebels. McLean County used three singles and three Todd Central errors to take a 4-0 lead after the bottom of the first.

The Rebels battled back to tie the game at 4-4 in the top of the third inning. The Cougars had their own fielding issues in the inning with two errors that opened the door for Todd Central to get back in the game. Devin Schutt, Zach Robinson, and George Cumbee had hits in the inning for the Rebels.

But that would be the end of the rally for Todd Central. McLean County would score in each of its next four at-bats to take control of the game. The Cougars scored three in the third, two in the fourth, and a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings to put the game away.

The Rebels scored their four runs on five hits. The five hits came from five different batters. In addition to Schutt, Robinson, and Cumbee, the Rebels got base hits from Nate Reding and Gavyn Nolan.

Zach Robinson was tagged with the loss on the mound for Todd Central. He went four innings, giving up nine runs, just three of them earned, on eight hits, striking out two and walking two.

The Rebels drop to 10-12 with the loss. They are back on the road Monday at Logan County.
