Thomas’ School Record Highlights Trigg’s Day at Area 1

For someone who just began competing in hurdle events this year, Alliyah Thomas is making it look easy.

The Trigg County senior and Spalding University signee set a school record in the 100-meter hurdles at Saturday’s Area 1 Championships at McCracken County High School.

Her time of 17.03 seconds was good enough for third place but bettered Annie Woods’ 2005 record by .09 seconds. Thomas owns three of Trigg County’s top four times in the event.

FIELD EVENTS

Alex Smith finished 15th in the shot put with a personal best distance of 25-04.25. Allayah Hargrove finished in 29th place with a distance of 22-00.50 and was 31st in the discus throw at 53 feet.

Serena Campbell finished 13th in the high jump at four feet two inches. Gabbi McGee came in 15th place in the long jump at 13-09. While Ella Dollison 27th at 11-01.

SPRINTS/HURDLES

Brooke Humphries finished in 13th place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 20.44 seconds, while her sister Addison Humphries was 20th in the 100-meter dash with a personal best time of 14.16 seconds.

In the 200 meters, Serena Campbell was 24th with a time of 32.1 seconds.

RELAYS

The 800-meter relay team finished in 12th place with a time of 2:08.19.

The 400-meter relay team came in 12th place with a time of 1:00.32.

MIDDLE DISTANCE

Gabbi McGee finished in 20th place in the 800-meter run in a time of 3:20.38, while Alex Smith was 21st in 3:29.26.

As a team, Trigg County finished in 17th place with six points, two better than Union County and tied with University Heights Academy and Hopkinsville.

Trigg County was missing several athletes due to Saturday night’s prom.
