Caldwell County Places 16th at Area 1 Championships

The Caldwell County track and field team sprinkled some personal best performances into a 16th-place finish at Saturday’s Area 1 Championships at McCracken County High School.

FIELD EVENTS

Cooper Mobley brought home a pair of top-five finishes in the throwing events. He was fourth in the shot put with a personal best toss of 43-08. He also finished in fifth place in the discus throw at 126 feet.

Daniel Laurent was 10th in the discus throw at 115 feet, five inches, while Miguel Pena finished in 25th place in the shot put at 31 feet, 2 inches.

Timothy Nichols finished ninth in the long jump at 18-02.25. His best finish came in the triple jump where his personal best leap of 41 feet, 2 inches was good for third place. It also cracked the top ten for best triple jumps in school history.

Jackson Risley finished in 16th place in the high jump.

Brenton Springfield had a personal best leap of 14-09 in the long jump, which was good for 26th place.

Jamison Stevenson finished 21st in the triple jump at 33-03.75.

RELAYS

The 3200-meter relay team finished in 14th place in 9:42.57.

The 1600-meter relay team came in 13th place with a time of 3:56.4.

SPRINTS

Xvaier Lee finished 19th in the 100-meter dash in 11.95 seconds. He came in 14th in the 200 meters in 23.67 seconds. Tre Copeland was 16th in the 200 meters in 23.94 seconds.

In the 400-meter run, Hoayang Wu finished in 30th place in 1:05.72.

MIDDLE DISTANCE

In the 1600-meter run, Blaine Hicks ran a time of 5:24.69 to finish in 18th place.

Blake Bard was 20th in the 800 meters in 2:18.87.

HURDLES

In the 300-meter hurdles, Jamison Stevenson ran a personal best time of 52.11 seconds to finish in 20th place, while Brenton Springfield was 25th in 57.79.

As a team, Caldwell County finished in 16th place with 15 points – a half point behind 15th place. Murray.
