The Christian County Lady Colonels smacked four home runs in Tuesday’s 15-1 victory over visiting Union County, including three for Avery Adcock to take her season total to 14. Christian County ended a three-game winless run to improve to 16-12-2, with Russellville visiting on Wednesday to wrap up the regular season.
The Lady Colonels led 3-0 in the 1st after RBI singles by Kaleigh Shaw and Jayda Turner. In the circle, Turner worked out of trouble in both of the first two frames, escaping from a one-out bases-loaded jam and coaxing a double play with a runner in scoring position.
Adcock’s first homer, a two-run shot to center field, made it 6-0 before she and Shaniya Shields went back-to-back in the 3rd for a 9-1 score. Shields’ two-run bomb cleared the right-field fence by 20 feet for the first of her career.
Shields added a two-run double to cap a four-RBI night before Adcock became only the fourth player in state history to record a second three-home run game with a two-run shot.
Turner earned her tenth win of the season, allowing a run on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts.
Adcock was four for four with six RBI, Shaw had two hits and two runs driven in, and Turner and Jada Miller each drove in a run.
Peyton Jenkins took the loss, the fourth in a row for the Bravettes, allowing six earned runs on five hits with a pair of walks and three strikeouts.
