Olivia Noffsinger’s Trigg County High School athletic career is a historic one. So, it’s no surprise she will be part of more history as she transitions to college athletics.
Noffsinger signed a letter Friday to play flag football at Campbellsville University, the only college in the state to offer the sport.
Noffsinger appeared on the region’s radar as an eighth grader when she hit a pair of 3-pointers in the district semifinals that sent the Lady Wildcats to the first of three consecutive district titles.
She finished with 1,437 career points, behind only Stephanie Humphries (2,168), Karen Johnson (2,140), and Ginger Wallace (1,498) on Trigg’s career scoring list. She also passed Humphries (142) and former teammate Marleigh Reynolds (142) with the most games played as a Lady Wildcat with 144.
She finished with a career-scoring average of 9.9 points and earned multiple All-District and All-Region honors.
Noffsinger graduates as the career leader in 3-pointers made with 201, finishing with 16 more than Brooke Kearney.
On the soccer field, Noffsinger earned All-District and All-Region honors. She scored 15 goals and handed out five assists during a senior season that also saw her named one of the best defenders in the region.
Noffsinger added a sport to her resume in the fall when she was named the kicker of the Wildcat football team.
Noffsinger hit 46 of 48 extra points during the 2022 season. The 46 extra points were the second-most by a Wildcat kicker. Kyle Waldrup holds the record with 52 PATs in 2001.
Noffsinger began the season with 27 consecutive PATs before her 28th attempt was blocked at LaRue County in Trigg County’s fifth game. Her streak was six shy of Brent Wietting’s record of 33 straight PATs in 2005.
She was announced as a 2022 Heisman High School scholarship school winner late last year.
She will be headed to Campbellsville where the school just wrapped up its first flag football season, a 7v7, fast-paced game that is an emerging sport in the NAIA. Campbellsville University is the first collegiate team in Kentucky and the seventeenth team nationally to offer the sport.
Noffsinger said the chance to try something new while continuing her athletic career was one of the main reasons for choosing Campbellsville. It also doesn’t hurt that the city is home to the only Druther’s Restaurant in Kentucky.
She said plans to take a course of study that will allow her to become a chiropractor.
