
Fort Campbell took home the Class A Region 1 title Thursday and will have at least eight entries in the state meet in two weeks in Lexington.
The Falcons scored 135 points to outdistance second-place University Heights Academy (104) and third-place Murray (96).
The top two finishers at the region automatically advance to the state meet, while the next ten best times/distances statewide also advance.
SPRINTS
The Falcons went 1-2 in the 400 meters with Maurice Moore winning in 50.62 seconds and Mateo Cerritos Gatto second in 51.73. Moore also won the 200-meter dash in 22.85 seconds.
Stephon Walker was seventh in the 100-meter dash (11.95), and McKenzie Andrews was 11th in the 100-meter dash (12.02). Andrews was 10th in the 200 meters (24.84).
HURDLES
Amaury Andrews finished second in the 300-meter hurdles (45.53).
Samuel Atoubi was third in the 110-meter hurdles (17.00) and Christopher Talbot was fifth (18.61). Talbot was also sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (49.46).
MIDDLE DISTANCE
Jeffery Perry was second in the 3200 meters (11:08.13).
Alonso Alfaro was fifth in the 800-meter run (2:13.72) and Jayden Perry was eighth (2:18.09).
Seth Puraty was third in the 1600-meter run (5:08.64) and Darrion Hutson was 12th (5:45.70).
RELAYS
The 800-meter relay team won with a time of 1:33.05. the 1600-meter relay team of Samuel Atoubi, Mateo Cerritos Gatto, Robert Federovich, and Maurice Moore won (3:33.08)
The 3200-meter relay team was fourth in 9:09.71.
The 400-meter relay team finished in fifth place (51.59).
FIELD EVENTS
Ja’Lyel Welch was second in the shot put (41-08.5) and Keshawn Dixon was fifth (39-02).
Mateo Cerritos Gatto was third in the triple jump (41-03.50).
Kaiden Verdone was third in the high jump (5-10).
Jalen Waddy was fourth in the long jump (17-08.50) and Adam Berry was sixth (17-04).
John Montalvo was third in the pole vault (11-00), and Seth Puraty was fourth (8-06).
Samuel Atoubi was seventh in the triple jump (35-08).
Stephon Walker tied for seventh place in the high jump (5-04).
UNIFIED
Eithan Cassell and Arismendy Cueto teamed to win the mixed shot put (42-11.50), the mixed long jump (28-04), and the 2×50 meter relay (14.91).
