Christian County nearly had its first state meet relay medal in 16 years at Saturday’s Clark’s Pump-n-Shop Class 3A State Track and Field Meet in Lexington.

The 400-meter relay team of Jayvion Hawkins, Cyrus Greenwade II, Trey Blanton, and Dahzmeon Brown just missed the medal podium by .42 seconds. They made a circuit of the track in 43.59 seconds.

The same group ran the 800-meter relay in 1:31.09 to finish in 14th place.

Christian County’s 800-meter relay team in 2007 produced the school’s last boys’ relay medal at state.

Trey Blanton finished in 16th place in the 100-meter dash in 11.15 seconds. The senior will finish his career with three of the seven fastest 100-meter times in school history.

Katieann Thompson closed her Lady Colonel track career with a 19th-place finish in the 400 meters in 1:03.11.
