Kentucky freshman receiver Anthony Brown says he’s the kind of person who likes to do a “lot of chillin’ at the house” because he is not really a “going out type” of person.

That laid-back personality is a bit of a surprise considering his uncle is John Legend, a singer, songwriter, pianist, record producer and actor. His uncle followed his high school career in Springfield, Ohio, and certainly will at Kentucky.

Brown is not sure when his uncle will come to Lexington but he feels certain he will come to see him play and support him.

“He came to one high school game. I am looking forward to him coming here,” Brown said. “He is very cool. He loves sports and football. Just having an uncle that supports you is the best thing you can ask for.”

Does he provide regular game updates for his uncle?

“Not really. Our schedules are busy but he will watch the game and show me a video that he and his family are watching,” Brown said.

Brown says he did not inherit his uncle’s singing skills.

“That talent skipped over me,” the UK receiver, who says he hopes it might work out for his uncle to sing the national anthem at a UK game, said. “But I am so lucky to have a great example of a successful person in my family. I know he does music and I do football but his mentality and the things he does I can follow to use and make me better.”
