The Hoptown Hoppers used a big pitching effort to pick up a 3-2 road win Friday night at Muhlenberg County. The win was the second in as many nights for the Hoppers, who knocked off Madisonville Thursday night.

Brady Ginaven gave the Hoppers one of their best starting pitching performances of the season. Ginaven only allowed the Stallions a leadoff single in the bottom of the first inning, a leadoff walk in the third, and a one-out single in the bottom of the fifth.

Ginaven also struck out eight batters during his six innings of work.

The Hoppers got on the board in the top of the second when Carter Hood took one over the left field fence to put Hoptown up 1-0.

In the fourth, the Hoppers used an error and two walks to load the bases with one out. Reid Douglas then scored on a sacrifice fly from Luis Villalba to extend the lead to 2-0.

A walk and another Stallions error allowed the Hoppers to add an insurance run in the top of the eighth and make it a 3-0 ballgame. The Stallions had fielding issues through the night, being charged with four errors in the game.

Just as it appeared the Hoppers had things right where they wanted them, the Stallions made things a bit more interesting. After a leadoff single from Teagan Ciocorelli and a one out walk to Charlie Scholvin, Muhlenberg County had a two-run triple from Ethan Rothschild to cut the Hopper lead to 3-2.

But that would be it as far as a comeback for the Stallions. Myles Green got the final out of the eighth inning and then set Muhlenberg County down in order in the bottom of the ninth to pick up the save.

Hoptown got the win despite having only three hits in the contest. Stephen Bell, Reid Douglass, and Carter Hood had one hit each for the Hoppers.

In addition to the four Muhlenberg County errors, the Hoppers were able to take advantage of seven walks in the game.
