It was a big weekend against some of the state’s best teams for the Christian County Colonels. Christian County was among the teams over the weekend and taking part in the KABC Titan Rockets Shootout, which featured 128 teams taking part in one of three tournaments at the event.
Christian County competed in the 64-team tournament that played out over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The Shootout also featured a 32-team tournament that was played Friday and Saturday and a 32-team tournament that was played Saturday and Sunday.
Christian County finished their weekend with a 1-2 record.
The Colonels began play Friday morning against Jones High School. Christian County advanced to the Round of 32 in the three-day tournament with a hard-fought 65-62 win.
Up next for the Colonels Friday afternoon was former Hopkinsville coach Larry Miller and his Evangel Christian team. The defending All A Classic champions looked ready to get the season underway as they got past Christian County 61-44.
With the loss, the Colonels dropped into a consolation bracket game Saturday against the Elizabethtown Panthers. Christian County went toe-to-toe with the defending 5th Region champions before dropping a tough 48-46 decision to wrap up their weekend.
