Connecticut offensive lineman Jadon Lafontant admits he really did not know a lot about the University of Kentucky football program when the UK staff started recruiting him.

“Let’s just say I learned a lot about Kentucky,” said Lafontant after making his verbal commitment to UK earlier this week.

He had about 15 scholarship offers and had made official visits to Pittsburgh and Boston College before his visit to Lexington.

“My objective was to make a decision by the end of the summer but once I got to Kentucky, I knew it was the right place,” the 6-3, 315-pound lineman said.

Part of that was due to his host, transfer offensive left tackle Marques Cox who came to UK from Northern Illinois in January.

“I got to know him and really liked him,” Lafontant, who plays for Brunswick School, said.

What should UK fans know about him?

“I am a guy who likes to win,” the Connecticut lineman said. “I am just a guy who likes to knock ‘em down and just keep doing it every play so my team can keep gaining yards. I love a physical game.”
