The Kings Firecrackers were started in 1990 when South Lebanon (Ohio) Elementary physical education teacher Lynn Kelley decided to get a group of girls who liked to jump rope and choreograph a performance for them using their jump ropes.
The Firecrackers quickly gained national attention for their feats and athleticism and have been on national TV and even performed at a presidential inauguration.
But the jump rope team is best known for its performances at high school, college and even NBA venues.
The Firecrackers have become regulars at University of Kentucky men’s basketball games and will perform March 7 when UK hosts Florida and they will also perform at the SEC Tournament in Nashville on semifinal Saturday.
However, Sunday the Firecrackers were in Memorial Coliseum for the Kentucky women’s game and put on their dazzling show at halftime that once again earned a standing ovation from UK fans.
